FAQs
What reference materials do you use?
I work from photographs, the higher quality the better. Ideally, they need to be taken in natural light either outside or near a window. This means I can see all the fine details that allow me to capture the best likeness of your pet. Photos translate well into drawings if they are taken at eye level and from a good angle. Please get in touch with me if you want to discuss options. Most of all, it should be an image of your pet that you love and is closest to how you ‘see’ them.
How long will it take?
Once you have formally booked a commission, I will try my best to complete your bespoke drawing within two weeks. You will be able to see a final version before the artwork is signed off. I will be operating a waitlist. Please get in touch to find out my current availability.
How much does it cost and will it be framed?
A3 pastel portraits of a single pet cost £250 each. This includes all packaging and postage within the UK. A 50% deposit is required to book, with the remaining 50% to be paid upon completion before delivery. Drawings come unframed and unmounted.
Do you only draw dogs?
Drawing dogs is my passion, but I also love sketching British wildlife and other animals. Please get in touch if you would like me to draw something other than a dog!
What size will my portrait be and do you only do pastel drawings?
Currently, I’m offering dog portraits in soft pastel on A3 paper only. This may change as time goes by. Please contact me if you have specific requirements.
Do I get to see the work in progress and can I make changes?
Once we’ve discussed and agreed a brief, I will get started on your drawing. You will have chance to see the artwork before the final balance is paid. At this stage, you can ask for small alterations that I will try to accommodate if possible.
